La Moudi Luxury Health Complex

At the heart of the project is the existing courtyard. Rather than treating it simply as the space enclosed by the building, the design places the courtyard at the center of the experience, turning it into a shared social space around which the different functions are organized. The surrounding clinics and commercial spaces open towards this central area, creating a more active relationship between interior and exterior while giving the complex a clear sense of arrival and orientation.

The architectural approach divides the building into two visually distinct yet interconnected elements: the outer shell and the inner core. The shell defines the exterior façades facing the surrounding context, while the core consists of the lighter façades enclosing the central courtyard. This distinction allows the building to present a stronger, more protective character towards its exterior and a softer, more welcoming atmosphere towards its heart.

A dark bronze perforated metal skin wraps the outer shell, introducing depth and rhythm to the existing building without requiring significant alterations to its structure. The vertically articulated panels create a new proportion across the façades while filtering views and daylight through their textured surfaces. During the day, the bronze cladding gives the building a solid and sculptural presence; after sunset, integrated lighting transforms the perforated surfaces into a warmer and more transparent layer, revealing the depth of the façade and giving the building a distinct nighttime identity.

In contrast to the darker exterior shell, the courtyard is defined by a significantly lighter material palette. Travertine cladding gives the inner façades an elegant yet natural character, reflecting daylight and creating a calm backdrop for the activities within the courtyard. Bronze details are carried into this central space to establish continuity with the exterior shell. Used around openings, vertical façade elements, railings, and screens, these darker accents create depth against the light stone surfaces and visually connect the two architectural languages.

Vertical proportions and framed openings establish a consistent rhythm throughout the courtyard façades, while integrated lighting further emphasizes their depth in the evening. Lush planting is introduced at ground and terrace levels, softening the architectural geometry and bringing a more intimate scale to the central space. Together, stone, bronze, greenery, and warm light create an atmosphere that balances the refined identity of a luxury health destination with the comfort of an inviting outdoor environment.

The courtyard landscape is organized through subtle changes in paving and level, allowing different functions to coexist without the need for strong physical boundaries. Vehicular access and parking are positioned along the lower areas of the site, while the lighter stone-paved central zone is dedicated primarily to pedestrian circulation and social use. Openings within the paving introduce pockets of greenery and small water elements, breaking down the scale of the courtyard and creating places for seating and gathering.

Through the contrast between its dark, textured outer shell and its light, landscaped inner core, La Moudi establishes two complementary experiences within a single architectural identity. The project transforms the existing building not by replacing it, but by layering a new façade, material language, and landscape onto its original structure—creating a contemporary health quarter centered around a vibrant and welcoming courtyard.

The spatial organization of La Moudi brings together different healthcare and social functions through an integrated planning approach centered around a shared courtyard. The dental clinic and two additional clinic units are distributed across different wings of the building, allowing each function to maintain its own identity and operational independence, while the café positioned on the ground floor creates a social focal point for the complex. All units are oriented towards the central courtyard of the C-shaped building, establishing both visual and physical connections between the different functions. In this way, the courtyard becomes more than a circulation space connecting the program; it forms the social heart of La Moudi, where visitors can meet, spend time, and experience the different parts of the complex within a shared environment.
